Setting up your Broadband using our BT Wireless Router

This setup guide is contained with every BT Wireless Router package.

Configuring your computer to obtain an IP address automatically


Windows 98SE/Me Windows 2000/XP Apple Mac OS
1 Click Windows Start menu, then Settings, then click Control Panel.
   
2 Double-click the Network icon
   
3 Under the Configuration tab, select TCP/IP for the network adapter you use to connect to your BT Voyager 2100
   
4 Click Properties
   
  Select Obtain an IP address automatically
   
5 Click OK twice
   
6 Restart your computer
 
1 Click Windows Start menu, then Settings/Control Panel, then click Network Connections
   
2 Right-click the icon for the network adapter you use to connect to your BT Voyager 2100
   
3 Click Properties
   
4 Select TCP/IP for the network adapter you use to connect to your BT Voyager 2100
   
5 Click Properties
   
6 Select Obtain an IP address automatically
   
7 Click OK twice
   
8 Restart your computer
1 Open Network Preferences:
OSX:
From the Apple menu or the dock, open System Preferences, then click Network
   
2 Select TCP/IP
   
3 In Show:/Connect via: select the adapter you use to connect to your BT Voyager 2100
   
4 In Configure: select the option Using DHCP
   
5 Click Save/Apply Now and close the window
   
6 Restart your computer
 


Restart computer
If after setting up your BT Voyager 2100, you cannot connect to the Internet or you have problems using your network:


1 Try restarting your computers then connect again by following Step 6 of this guide. If this does not resolve your problem:
2 Try the "Resetting" Section opposite
Resetting your BT Voyager 2100 to factory default
Note: This will reset your BT Voyager 2100 to default settings "as new". Use if you have lost your Configuration Manager "admin" password or your wireless security settings or if you are having problems connecting to your BT Voyager 2100 and want to start installation again.

1 Ensure your BT Voyager 2100 is switched ON (Power light green)
2 Locate the Reset pin hole at the back of the BT Voyager
3 Insert a paper clip or other thin object to press the button insider
4 Keep the button pressed 10 seconds until the Diag light switches on. Your BT Voyager 2100 will reboot
5 Restart your computer

If a Dial-up networking window when trying to connect to the Internet

1 Select the Windows Start menu, then Control Panel
   
2 Click Internet Options. Windows XP users might have to click Network and Internet Connections first
   
3 Click connections tab
   
4 Click Never dial a connection option.
   
5 Click LAN Settings ... button.
   
6 Tick Automatically detect settings.
   
7 Click OK twice
 
1 Click the Hard Drive icon on the desktop then double-click Applications, then System Preferences, then Network.
   
2 Click on the drop down menu Show:
   
3 Select your dialup modem from the list
   
4 Select the PPP tab
   
5 Click the button PPP Options ...
   
6 Deselect the option Connect automatically when needed.
   
7 Click OK, then Apply to save the settings
1 Click the Apple icon, then Control Panel, then Remote Access.
   
2 Click the Options... button.
   
3 Select Protocol tab.
   
4 In Use protocol, select PPP.
   
5 Deselect the option Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
   
6 Click OK.
   
7 Close the window and Save the settings.
 


Note
This will ensure that your Internet browser uses the correct settings to connect to the Internet. For other applications, please refer to their user guides.
